Guide for Authors

Guide for Authors

Manuscripts for Iranian Journal of Polymer Science and Technology (JIPS) should be sent through: http://jips.ippi.ac.ir

JIPS is an Open Access journal. Article submission, processing, and publication fees are also free for authors

Language

The journal's language is Persian.

Manuscript Presentation

Types of papers:  The journal accepts the following types of contributions:

  •  Original
  •  Review

The manuscript will be initially examined by editor-in-chief and then sent to reviewers if it fulfills the following points:

  • Relevancy to the scope of the JIPS.
  • Novelty and originality of the work.
  • Significance to the spreading topics and developments in the field of polymer Science and Technology.
  • Conformation with JIPS “Guide for Authors”.

Authors should therefore follow the instructions given below:

Organization of Original Manuscripts

Manuscripts should be typewritten on A4 paper, text in single column with 1.5 line spacing. Number the pages consecutively with the first page containing Title, Author's name and affiliation, Structured Abstract, Keywords, Text, Figures and Tables. The text should be divided into sections such as: introduction, experimental (materials, equipment, and methods), results and discussion, conclusion, references, symbols and abbreviations.

Prepare your manuscripts in MS Word and save your file in docx format (Word 2007 or higher) or doc format (older Word versions). Please place the Figures and Tables at the end of the manuscript and submit it as "The Main Manuscript" only in PDF format. After acceptance of the manuscript, it should be submitted in Word format and the Figures should be sent separately in TIF format

Author(s) Information

Author(s) information including the names, affiliations and addresses of all authors should be written in the first page. Please give full address, e-mail address, telephone number and fax number for the corresponding author.

Title

Title of the paper should contain as many meaningful terms as possible but limited to about 15 words.

Abstract

The structured abstract should summarize the whole paper. Its length should not exceed 300 words, and to highlight "Hypothesis", "Methods" and "Findings" (the results obtained and the conclusions).

Keywords

Five keywords expressing the precise content of the manuscript should be provided below the abstract.

References

The most recent published papers and books as references should be cited and identified in the text by enclosing in squared brackets. References should be numbered in the order of their citation in the text. Also avoid bulk referencing (e.g. [1-8]) as much as possible and give the list of all authors (do not use et al.). References should be listed at the end of manuscript in Times New Roman, font size 12 using the following style:

Tables

All Tables must be referred in the text and the Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals sequential order in which they appear. Place them at the end of the manuscript.

Figures

Figures will be produced in black and white. All illustrations should be in 8.5 or 18 cm width excluded the margins, in TIFF format with resolution of 300 dpi. The Figures must be referred in the text and numbered in the sequence in which they are cited. It is strongly suggested to upload the Figures electronically-generated from relevant software and/or equipments, NOT from a hard copy scanned file. Micrographs produced by SEM, TEM, AFM and etc. must include magnification and scale. Poor quality artworks will lead to delay in publication.

Please supply captions for all Figures at the end of the text as well as during uploading process.

Chemical structures

Chemical structures and reaction schemes should be drawn with an appropriate drawing program. All files must be saved as TIFF file and should not be submitted in its native application format.

Quantities and Units

Use only SI quantities and units. If data are in non-SI units, put non-SI units in parenthesis after the corresponding SI data.

Abbreviations

Symbols and abbreviations represent variables, constants, quantities, properties and etc., while should be defined at the first mention and being used consistently thereafter.

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements, if any, should appear after "Conclusion" section.

Review Manuscripts

A review manuscript should be produced by experts of the field with at least 5 references from the author(s) themselves. The length of a review paper should be limited to about 10000-13000 words including the table of contents and with the copyrights of all the Figures and Tables.

Online submission

To access to JIPS online system for submission, please link directly to http://jips.ippi.ac.ir and click on “Login”. Enter your User ID and Password and then follow the instructions provided on each page. Authors will receive an immediate acknowledgement of the receipt of their paper.

Authors are cordially requested to suggest two preferred reviewers, to accelerate the reviewing process. A notification of the reviewers comments and the Editorial Board assessments will be sent to the author as they are received. The manuscript should be submitted via the corresponding author’s account.

Electronic Proofing

Corresponding authors will be sent page proofs via e-mail.

There are no page charges in JIPS and you can find full text of the published manuscripts free of charge in JIPS website.
